  • smiles

so yesterday was wed., which our office is just open in the afternoon, so i'm off in the morning. spent the morning with the kids, but once i left for work wasn't home til LATE. (so didn't see the kids til lunch today. dylan was sleeping when i left for work this morning - he ended up geting up at like 9:30 which is WAY late for him).

so ben sent me a message and i told him to tell dylan hi, ect...he asked dylan if he wanted to tell me anything...he grinned and whispered "happy birthday" :) lol...and then kept telling ben.."tell her dad, tell her".....

  • more toddler smiles

so dylan has just begun to learn to really play wii...he loves playing golf (of course), baseball and bowling..but golf prob the fav.

so he was doing a putting game and swings his club and then follows it by saying "get in the hole, get in the hole" HA HA HA...ben and i both laughed out loud! i think it's safe to say golf might be one of the kids sports. he can't wait to go to the course with dad this year and for it to "get warm out and get golf clubs oooouuuut"

  • toddler comments

so this morning started out a bit rough with the kids getting up at 6am...it's been a LONG week at work. i've had to put in extra hours and looks like next week looks the same. so i'm TIRED...so 6am came too early after heading to bed close to 1am. sooo, in prep for our second showing of the house today, got up, did some more laundry and swept the house before heading into work.

at lunchtime, ben and the kids come pick me up (as our house is being shown) and we head to lunch. we eat and on our way to the park dylan randomly says "dad, do you love mommy?" and ben replies "yep!" and dylan follows that with "i love mommy too!" somehow the morning seemed worth it at that point and then ben and i had a little laugh about the words and phrasing he had come up with all of a sudden. had a great time at the park and then headed back to work.

haven't heard back on the showing. hopefully we'll hear something tomorrow...it was one of 3 (out of an original 10) that they were walking through a second time....

  • all i have

so a few weeks ago, our new worship leader introduced a song that i had never heard before. he had heard it at another church worship and healing service...vineyard (which i LOVE their music)...anyway. i listened and then sang and then balled and sang...its my life right now..its all that i feel...it encompasses fears/worries/excited/hope/lack of/saddness that i have...its amazing. please take the time to listen...these are the reasons we continually need to encourage the arts...so artists can to continue to write songs that speak for all of us who can't speak for ourselves! we're singing it this week and i'm on worship team this week! yes!!! now if i can get through without crying.....

  • conclusion of day 3

well...we made it through...with a very late night and a long day today...just got through our 1/2 hour presentation of a newstart in nashville where ben was chosen to be lead pastor and i was leading artisan ministry...pretty typical:) it went well...we went second out of the two groups and i think we did a much better job :) they had some hard questions/comments for the previous group and didn't as much for us...know that can be a bad thing but we left with the idea that they felt we did a really great job! dinner soon and then a free night...think we're hitting part of the town with some of the other people so we'll see...

exit interviews are tomorrow morning...so we'll get the final news then..don't have our assigned time yet though...ben of course brought coffee..his grinder and his press....OH YES PEOPLE HE REALLY DID!!!! and it's a HUGE HIT here with candidates and assessors a like...we may have just gotten a few customers including the d.s. from west virginia that's here.....

ok...off to the cafeteria for dinner...i haven't eaten this much in forever, i've gained 5lbs EASY!!!!!!!
thankful that the stress and work is over...now we wait!

  • end day 2/start day 3

so i don't have much time..as you would notice its midnight here...1am your time...we're ending our day 2 here and starting our day three as we still have much work ahead for the night....

we had our counsel session with the psychologist here ( i know its his job but amazing how he can pinpoint who you are:)...it was actually quite affirming and encouraging...ben and i both enjoyed that.

ben did preach this morning and did a great job. a man here who is going on his 5th new start commenting to ben several times that he reminded him of erwin mcmanus when he was first starting...woooo what a compliment :).

we had candidate interview time and that went fine...a lot of in depth questions mostly for ben....we've not stopped going since 7:45am this morning, no break really (maybe a couple 10 min. ones and then dinner times)....

we're sitting here putting working on our project for the next 20 hours...which is doing a complete newstart plan with a group of people...we've already come up with and discussed basics and have split for the evening to develop the areas of ministry that we've taken on....i'm working on artisan community ministry...ben is putting words and meaning to our mission/vision and packaging a lot....we're coming back together to work on the rest of our church plant, figuring out funding, building, worship service and then will need to get it packaged real nice to present to our assessors tomororw....we just got done meeting as a group so we have some  ministry development to do...we're exhausted of course...we both slept horrible last night...so prayer for energy would be appreciated!!!!!

oh btw, paul, christy, chad and brooke....our "newstart city" is NASHVILLE :) ha ha....ben and i got our group to choose that over atlanta...figured we could at least pretend to do a newstart there if that wasn't where God would really send us :) ha ha ha....

ok, off to work...thanks for the prayers!

Our Story

  • we're two desperate children of God, seeking Him in all the ways we know how. we've been blessed with a love for each other we didn't think possible for the last 8 years of our marriage. we've been serving the bedford community through bedford church of the nazarene for the last 5 years and have just transitioned out of that leadership to seek a new call on our lives in church planting.. We're head over heals in love with our first child, Dylan who will be three in a few weeks and welcomed our second son into our arms in september. they teach us more about God and ourselves almost everyday and we're both really enjoying the new journey parenthood has brought to our lives.

A Thought for the Day

  • i'm feeling a mix of emotions today. excited about a potential second showing of our house and feeling the loss of my sister today.....
  • i miss my sister today.....felt good to hear her voice (listened to some old recordings of her singing).
  • i'm pretty sure i've done enough emotional eating these last three days to last my entire pregnancy.
